Improving Economic Viability through Educational Advancement

LIFT Foundation is established with the overall goal of improving the economic viability through educational advancement. Our fundamental goal is to support and incentivize research, at tertiary level, that would address and find solutions for the problems faced by the community. This would eventually improve the economic viability and create new employment opportunities that ultimately lead to a healthier and prosperous society.  Our primary focus is to provide funding and intellectual support to research initiatives at the Universities that will translate into meaningful social and economic outcomes.

To achieve this forward-looking goal, LIFT Foundation has created an Endowment fund, the first of its kind established to support research in Sri Lanka.  LIFT will raise a large amount of money to be invested in long term, stable investments in the United States and the income from this capital investment will be used as project grants for funding the research projects . This will ensure the financial support for long time to come. The endowment fund is a U.S. entity, and will be strictly managed by a board of directors, bound by U.S. laws. With capital growth over the time and accompanying increase in revenue will enable reliable funding over an extended period.  An established norm is that such funding mechanism is essential for meaningful outcome.

The LIFT Foundation is registered in the United States as a Non-profit organization. Its operations are bound by US laws to ensure the integrity of the fund for years to come. LIFT will comply with all applicable regulations, filings and registrations, and have put bylaws in place to ensure the Fund’s integrity.

To achieve our goal, LIFT (Lead, Inspire, Focus, Tenacity) is establishing an Endowment Fund to provide needed financial support for these universities in the form of research grants. This endowment fund will be the first of its kind established to support research at the tertiary institutional level in Sri Lanka.
